Progress in cataloguing
To the general bibliography Bibliographie de Belgique = Belgische Bibliografie is added a yearly supplement for cartographic and related material. From 1986 on this supplement will be subdivided thematically.
A program for listing the at1ases kept in the larger Belgian libraries started in the universities of Liège and Leuven. Supervision rests with Maurice Charlier, of the Séminaire de Géographie de l'Université de l'État in Liège.
A previous draft of a catalogue of globes kept in official Belgian collections is to be completed and the principal private collections will be added to the definitive copy.
The cataloguing of the maps kept in the library of sciences in the University of Louvain-la-Neuve has started in 1986, while the ordering of the topographical maps has been continued.
To further the promotion of the new map at the scale of 1:100,000 and linked with the policy of easier access to the National Survey the I.G.N./B. = N.G.I./B. has organized in 1986 special days in large warehouses.

Restoration
The War Museum: Musée royal de l'Armée et d'histoire militaire in Brussels has appointed a trained restorator for books, prints and maps.
In the State Archives, the Museum Plantin Moretus in Antwerp and the central library of the Rijksuniversiteit Gent, the general process of restoration proceeds, although very slowly in the first institution by shortage of staff. In the Royal Library, there are no longer possibilities since the pensioning off of the sole trained restorator.

Exhibitions
A travelling exhibition on fortified cities of the province of Hainaut toured during several months in 1984.
In 1985 an exhibition of maps from the 16th to the 18th century kept in Spanish collections was organized in the War Museum for Europalia. The catalogue was written by Claire Lemoine-Isabeau.
An exhibition, organized by the State Archives about sea-havens and the Zwin, was held in 1986 in several cities at the sea-side, and is running in Brussels till February 1987. The catalogue is by René Laurent.

Acquisitions
Due to lack of funds no acquisitions were made by official libraries.
